Ph.D. student

Vineet Jain

Vineet is a Ph.D. student at McGill University advised by Siamak Ravanbakhsh. His primary research interest lies in representation learning, reinforcement learning and generative models. His recent work has focused on applying generative models to reinforcement learning problems, learning structured representations, and incorporating uncertainty for efficient exploration. He is also interested in the application of machine learning to astronomy, for discovering novel phenomenon in the Milky Way galaxy using data from the Gaia Mission. Vineet obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, and Master’s degree in Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University.
