Yashar Hezaveh

Yashar Hezaveh is the Director of Ciela Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Université de Montréal. He is also a Canada Research Chair in Astrophysical Data Analysis and Machine Learning and a Visiting Fellow of the Centre for Computational Astrophysics at Flatiron Institute in New York. Before his current appointments, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Flatiron Institute and NASA/STScI Hubble Fellow at Stanford University. His research focuses on discovering the fundamental properties of dark matter and probing cosmology with strong gravitational lensing. To do this, he develops and applies machine learning analysis methods to astronomical data from various observatories and surveys, including ALMA, LSST, James Webb Space Telescope, and Hubble Space Telescope.
